Dear Friends,
Showing you care for someone, extending a hand/touch, a hug, a short kiss on the cheek, offering a ride, listening with all of your attention, really caring for what is happening to another, whether friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, makes a life richer. People feel it. They feel cared about.
We are in a time when caring for others is lacking and when it does come their way, people respond to it. They lighten up, relax into it, bask in its soothing energy.
Be that caring person, someone who is involved in life and extends themselves. Yes, it needs boundaries. However it’s a nourishment given and received that is priceless.
Be well,
Jyoti

Summer 2019 Astrology Column
July begins with a New Moon Solar Eclipse on the 2nd at 1:16PM/MDT and shows us how the old is falling away. In your personal life, where that is happening, let it go. This Eclipse is very close to the U.S. Sun (4th of July) and heralds new opportunities to stand for what we believe in and trust it. Mercury turns Retrograde (Rx) on the 7th at 5:15PMMDT and we look at what really feeds us and how we are willing to feed ourselves. Challenges on the 9th, erratic energy on the 11th, and power plays on the 14th. The Lunar Full Moon Eclipse occurs on the 16th at 3:38PM/MDT and reveals that energy abounds and opportunities are visible. Let life inspire you. Trust issues may arise. Make peace with them. Insights into where we feel challenged on the 21st, a flow of energy and abundance on the 25th and expect things to go unexpectedly on the 29th. The New Moon on the 31st at 9:12PM/MDT is a Blue Moon, the second New Moon this month, and brings a sense of adventure. Choose a nurturing path that fills you. Choose that which feeds your soul. Mercury also turns Direct this day at 9:58PM/MDT. We begin to redo the events of the previous 3 weeks and move forward.
August begins with expansive days on the 7th and 8th. Uranus and Jupiter are stationing the 2nd week and it’s energies are unexpected, yet there is movement. The Full Moon on the 15th at 6:29AM/MDT says insights abound. Note what occurs to you and share it, apply it. Speak truth. Expansive views on the 21st and creative juices flow on the 24th. Freedom is the topic on the 26th-29th. The New Moon on the 30th at 4:37AM/MDT says communication is vital. Don’t expect others to know what you need. Use your words. Plan your next move.
September gives insights on the 1st, desire for getting something going on the 2nd and 3rd, and teach/learn on the 5th and 6th. The Harvest Full Moon on the 13th at 10:33PM/MDT brings movement and changes. Old patterns are lessening their hold. Embrace more of what you see as possible. Strong day on the 19th with Mars trine Pluto, strength to get energy moving. The Fall Equinox on the 23rd at 1:51AM/MDT gives a push to explore what interests you over the next quarter of the year. Trust issues on the 25th, deep looking on the 26th, and the New Moon occurs on the 28th at 12:26PM/MDT. Be willing to see things as they are. Relationships may be transformative. Go with it! Happy Fall!!!

The Art of inheriting Secrets: A Novel by Barbara O’Neal. With the death of her mother an American woman inherits a 2,000 acre estate in the English countryside that includes a crumbling 37 room manor house which has been abandoned for 40 years along with a title. Expecting to stay in England only a couple of weeks before returning to her life in San Francisco, Olivia is met with mysterious surprises that extend her stay indefinitely. This story includes unimaginable secrets held for decades as well as love of many kinds including love of land, place, food and art. I was drawn into the relationships and the landscapes through Ms. O’Neal’s adept descriptive and sensual use of language. I hope she will write a sequel. (Guest Reviewer: Kate Guilford)
The Book of Dreams by Nina George. Author of The Little Paris Bookshop. This book became a pager turner for me. I couldn't stay away. A man jumps into the Seine to save a little girl. He was on his way to see the son he didn't know. In a coma, his former lover is sent for, as his legal guardian. Can Henri return to the land of the living? How will he navigate in the world of 'in-between"? This was a fascinating read for me. I loved it!!!
The Paris Seamstress by Natasha Lester. 1940s France. A young woman, Estella, is put on a train by her seamstress mother, to board a boat for the U.S., carrying her mother’s sewing machine and love. We follow her search for work, her sketching and designing skills, and
the secrets surrounding her mother and unknown father. This was a very enjoyable read about women and how they are treated, the goals they reach for, and what and who steps in-between. Very good read!
The Little French Bistro by Nina George. With her style of language and storytelling that I find so beautiful, the author leads us on a women’s search for life through death. She explores what comes to us as women to help us awaken, no matter how comfortable and unconscious our sleep is. Just love her work!
America’s First Daughter by Stephanie Drey & Laura Kamoie Thoroughly researched, this well-written novel was based on the thousands of letters of Thomas Jefferson and other sources of information. Eldest daughter, Martha (Patsy) Jefferson Randolph led a fascinating, painful, joyful, tragic life, always keeping her father’s reputation in mind before she made any decisions. This book reveals many secrets generally unknown. Great reading uncovering the dynamic role this woman played in our history. Guest Reviewer: Arlene S. Bice, author.
Agatha Raisin and the Murderous Marriage by M. C. Beaton is for the lover of mysteries and working out the puzzle of who dunnit without gore or horror. Over 50 years old and always in pursuit of her neighbor James, there are lots of laughs to go with the murder. This is a good series set in England to lighten your day. Guest Reviewer: Arlene S. Bice, author.
Shamanic Mysteries of Egypt by Nicki Scully and Linda Star Wolf. Using the ancient gods of Egypt as cornerstones, the authors have created this book as a shamanic course, providing rituals, meditations and understandings along the way. A guide to personal evolution.
Magic Medicine: Homeopathy As Shamanism by Gloria St. John. The author, although not a Shaman herself, explores the similarities between these two healing paths. She makes the case that both paths desire a complete healing of the human being, not just remedial, but complete. She poses a fascinating view, bringing these paths closer together, showing the similarities between these models of healing. However, I would have liked to have seen her experience firsthand the Shamanic path. As a person doing Shamanic work, and practicing Homeopathy, I was hoping for a little more meat on the bone. Still, a very interesting read.
Painting the Moon by Traci Borum (Chilton Cross Book 1) Noelle inherits an English cottage and art gallery from her Aunt Joy, a famous artist. Saving the cottage and the gallery from financial ruin makes moving to England from California necessary. An old friend leading a renovation project in the same village provides additional interest. Discovering her aunt’s journal with an art lesson beginning each philosophical entry turns into life lessons for Noelle. A mystery that Noelle needs to solve surrounds Aunt Joy’s life. The mixture of art, romance and intrigue is a delicious one in this heart warming book. Guest Reviewer: Kate Guilford

Wide as the squash blossom’s golden arrow
high as the roof’s iron stone
deep roots of your caring
your gift of love shines in my heart
grateful for your being with me now
I didn’t know I was missing you

Sunshine on Fences
(For Jeri)
Shadows and sunshine on fences
Appear all around
As I ramble down the road.
Ripples of chill autumn winds
Dance in the air
Waking my skin’s sleeping cells.
Fragrances of pine and mesquite
Penetrate my nostrils
Shaking my fading senses.
Reds, yellows, all shades of green
Color the silent scene
And nourish my famished vision.
Shadows and sunshine on fences
Surrounded by mountains and blue sky
Flashes of Southwest memories
Accompany me
As I ramble.

In visiting sacred sites we are, on some level, making a pilgrimage. We may go on a sightseeing tour, and yet our spirit may be asking for a blessing, a retrieval of lost parts, misplaced energy. We may be allowing ourselves to open to the ‘power of place’ and be re-invigorated by the influx of energy at these crux points.
Each place has its own tone and pulse, its own electromagnetics. The feel of the place may be chaotic, serene, invigorating or even neutral, because the signature is different at each site.
Sometimes a past life may hover on the edge of your mind, a memory almost recalled. A sense of familiarity, almost real, yet you know it’s not from this life experience. Adopting an open approach to hear what is available to you there enables the spirit of the place to speak to you.

Beit Giorgis, Lalibela
For shadow work. For working with the unknown, unclaimed parts of self. For slaying own dragons.
Monolithic rock-hewn church. Underground tunnel down to front door of church.
Journey
Beit Georges (Beit = house)
I went down into the rock hewn Church, 40’ below the top of the rock formations and sat in the dark. There were those praying for the healing of the world’s sexual nature, to heal the perversions. I rode with St. George as he slew the dragon with his long sword, the dragon of the first chakra, of depravity…into health. JW

Bigger
I am bigger now.
I’ve reclaimed
so much more room
inside myself
that used to be absorbed
with other people’s stuff.
Worrying about
what they thought.
Jumping the high bar
of their expectations
or needed good graces.
And extracting the ghosts
that have danced behind you.
I have so much more room
to spread out
in my creativity
in my appreciation
for who I have become.
I am so much bigger
than I ever was.

Believe Me by Eddie Izzard. This book was an amazing read. A friend of mine called me many years ago and said "You have to watch this comedian on Netflix, Eddie Izzard, he is amazing and brilliant" I watched and I agreed. Now Eddie has written a memoir about growing up in Ireland and Wales, his slow but calculated and inspiring climb to success, and his personal journey to live in these times as a transgender person. His story is fascinating, humorous, and very touching. Eddie describes how in 2009 he began seriously running marathons. In 2016, he ran twenty-seven marathons in twenty-seven days across South Africa in honor of Nelson Mandela's twenty-seven years in prison - raising over 6 million dollars for charity. Awesome !! “There is now extensive research that shows writing, the simple act of putting down your deepest thoughts and feelings on paper, is one of the most powerful and effective means to ease and ultimately heal sorrow. The act of writing brings a structure ad order to the chaos of grief.” Writing to Heal the Soul: Transforming Grief and Loss Through Writing by Susan Zimmerman.

Being Ancestor to the Future
Dear Descendants, gather the flavors of poetry for your palate & to fortify your heart.
Our current soft lives allow much poetry, yet were preceded by toughened generations
back, back, back to hunting & gathering.
I will record the names & stories for you to ponder as I have.
I do my best to destroy the defects of this civilization
So all our relations may survive to line in harmony with you-
So you may survive to live in harmony with them.
Lineages reaching around the planet,
May we be woven strongly back into the web of life.
